Autumn Term 1 Learning Adventure 23/24
Please look at the Knowledge Organisers for this half term in Class 3. We hope that your child is enjoying the learning that we have planned for them. It has been wonderful to see the awe and wonder on their faces as they begin to explore our exciting new topics:
Maths - Place Value, Addition & Subtraction.
English - Reading and discussing the story of 'The Iron Man'. Some of us will innovate the story and write our class story together, whilst the Year 4 children will write their very own story. We can't wait to invite you into the classroom to look at our finished work. We will also be looking at diaries and writing our own diary extracts.
Geography - We will be thinking about where we are in the world. We will study different maps, atlases and globes to find out about our world. We will use maps and digital maps to come closer to home and learn about the region of England that we live in and the counties that surround us. We will use Ordnance Survey symbols to use maps, learn to use a compass and use ordnance survey maps and grid references to explore Hapton.
Science - Through lots of practical activites we will investigate forces and magnets.
Music - We will be appraising and learning to sing Mamma Mia.
Computing- Our topic this half term is Coding.
Design & Technology - We will be looking at mechanisms, particulary pneumatic toys.
RE- We will be thinking about how the Church can be a building but it is also a group of people who have the same beliefs and come together. We will look at the sacred places of worship of not only Christians but of Jews and Muslims too.
