Music
Intent
To fulfil our mission statement to provide a vibrant, caring, Christian environment with a happy, friendly and calm atmosphere in which children and staff can live and work together. To always aim for standards of excellence in teaching, learning and caring for each other. To ensure that the Musical needs of the children at Hapton school are met through consistently good teaching. The children at Hapton will love the subject of Music through these lessons. Our curriculum is ambitious and creative providing challenge for the children through differentiated lessons and opportunities to progress with instruments. Music builds on the children’s cultural capital through allowing them to experience classical music, live music and explore different composers throughout their time at Hapton.
Implementation
At Hapton Primary School we use the Lancashire Music Services online Music scheme of Charanga to support the teaching and learning of Music in our school. This fantastic resource provides interactive resources, games, ideas and visual music aids on the interactive whiteboards for us to use with the children. Children at Hapton love music and using the different percussion instruments, glockenspiels and recorders to aid their musical lessons. Having close links with our local community and churches allows us at Hapton to perform locally once or twice an academic year.
Impact
A love and passion for the subject of Music will be evident in school by adults and children alike. Children will discuss musicians they have learnt about and songs they love, giving reasons why. Music will be delivered through a curriculum which continues to meet the requirements of the NC but is also developed to fulfil the needs of our children at Hapton School. The school will have a whole school choir who develop strong links in the local community.
